What happens when fandoms collide? You start seeing to many similarities.
And, as we all know, never ignore a coincidence. Unless you’re busy, in which case always ignore a coincidence and write them all down in a tumblr post.
Here is our list of Doctor Who-Indiana Jones connections/references/analogies or ”coincidences”
1) Outfit
The Doctor & Indiana Jones: tweed jacket, bowtie (bowties are cool!) and stetson/fedora almost the same, right?!
The Doctor & Sallah: wear a fez (fezzes are cool!)
River Song (The Pandorica Opens) & Willie Scott (The Temple Of Doom): same hairstyle, almost same dress (same oriental style, different color)
2) Riding horses
The Doctor, Amy & River riding horses in The Pandorica Opens like Indiana Jones (in every movie)
3) Archeology & Guns
River Song and Indiana Jones are both Archeology professors that are not afraid to use a gun.
4) Run!
It’s a constant, in both worlds
5) Hitler and Nazis are the baddies/enemies
Doctor Who (Let’s kill Hitler) & Indiana Jones (always)
6) Museums
The Doctor & Indiana Jones: they will eventually turn up in a museum
7) Flying skills
The Doctor & Indiana Jones: they’re good at flying things, not landing them.
8) Artifacts
The Pandorica is a lot like the Lost Ark (light comes out when it opens, it suppose to contain all the evil of the universe, hidden underground)

Indiana Jones (The Last Crusade): “I’m like a bad penny, I always turn up.” The Doctor references this in ‘The God Complex’ “You haven’t seen the last of me. Bad penny is my middle name”
River Song/Mels (Let’s Kill Hitler): “Penny in the air… And the penny drops”
10) The women often slap/punch the men
Marion/Indiana (The Lost Ark), River/Doctor (The Impossible Astronaut) and Amy/Rory (too often :D)
11) Father and Son/Daughter dialogue
Rory/River: “what kind of doctor are you?” “Archeology!”
Mutt/Indiana: “you a…teacher?!” “Part-time”
Indiana/Dr. Jones senior: “You call THIS Archeology?!” (after Indiana gets shot at)

Other things that are not directly references to Indiana Jones, but are very similar.

- Weird name history: Indiana (nick)named after a dog, Melody ‘you named your daughter after your daughter’
- Weird food (Temple Of Doom, fish fingers and custard)
- They escape always at last minute in a goofy way
- Baddies always chasing them
- Finding clues in the strangest ways
- Everytime the find something they have to explain the historical meaning
- Looking for artifacts underground or in caves
- Eye patches (as an old man, Indiana wears one)
